Hello and welcome to the Seed Wellness blog! Here I will be sharing tips for healthy living, inspiration, motivation, recipes and more, to support you on your way to vibrant health. But first, I want to give a little introduction to what Seed Naturopathic Wellness is all about.

Why “Seed”?

I’ve always been fascinated by all aspects of nature, seeds in particular. As a kid, it astounded me that plants started as tiny seeds-- like the massive oak tree in our yard, which grew from an acorn. Growing up, I spent most days outside in my parent’s backyard exploring nature. I collected seeds, flowers, leaves and rocks, and spent all day observing various insects, birds and squirrels as they went about their day.

Throughout my life, I have continued this study of the natural world and our interconnectedness with it. When I discovered naturopathic medicine, I knew immediately that this was my path. Naturopathic medicine beautifully combines health, medicine and nature, which encompasses my exact mission: To utilize the healing power of nature to help people live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

Seeds mirror many aspects of our own health, all the way down to our very cells. Like seeds, we have great potential within us; both in our health, and in our lives in general. We also need the right environment in order to thrive, including the right nutrition, clean water, rest, and nurturing to grow. Just like plants, we will also go through many different phases where needs will change as we grow and mature, and we must adjust how we’re taking care of ourselves as we evolve. It was through this that I decided on Seed Naturopathic Wellness to represent what I do-- helping you on your journey to plant the right seeds of wellness!

The analogy of seeds lends itself really well to women’s health in particular, which is my main area of focus. The cycle of seeds, plants, and nature are akin to the cyclical hormonal rhythms a woman experiences both monthly, and throughout different phases of her life. This is especially true of preparing for conception and pregnancy; optimizing the cellular health of both partners makes for healthy conception, pregnancy, and healthy children.

Start Tiny

There are many other parallels we can draw from seeds, and nature in general, in talking about health. “Planting the seeds” can mean starting with a healthy mindset, and making the decision to improve your health. From here, you can start making small incremental changes over time, which lead to long-term benefits. Every little thing you do with consistency will gradually improve your health. Big goals can be vague; for example- “I want to lose weight”, or “I want to get healthy”. Trying to do too much at once can lead to overwhelm, and falling back into old patterns. So we start tiny! I feel that this is the way to create a healthy lifestyle: Plant seeds of health by making small habit changes, and nurture these habits so they get established and grow roots. Once these healthy habits have taken root, next try planting a different type of ‘seed’-- for example increasing your water intake, adding more vegetables, getting more movement. These are all strategies that will establish the foundations for health.

My passion is helping you make lasting changes in your health. This is done by meeting you exactly where you are, and coming up with a realistic, sustainable plan to get you on the road to feeling great.

Through this introductory series of posts, I will be introducing you to the basic foundations for health; these are the most important areas to start with, on your path to optimal health.
